Six places sit around the core postcode and all of them read off one list. A bedroom carpet is £36 in every one, and no invoice has ever carried a line for the miles. The shape of the round is simple enough to describe: east along Dalston Lane to Hackney Central, north up Kingsland High Street to Stoke Newington, north-east to Clapton, south down the Windrush line through Haggerston to Hoxton, and west across the road into De Beauvoir Town.

How far Dalston stretches on this site
E8 is the middle of it, with N16 above and N1 to the side, all of it inside the London Borough of Hackney. Off the edges the van reaches E2 at Haggerston and E5 at Clapton. That is genuinely the round, and it is worth saying so, because a fair few cleaning websites shade in half of north London and then take three days to turn up. Newington Green, London Fields, Shoreditch, Islington, Canonbury and Bethnal Green all get worked when the job comes up and none of them has a page here. A firm based in Islington or Bethnal Green will serve those streets better than we can from Kingsland High Street.
One borough, four sets of parking hours
All six areas sit in Hackney. The N1 postcode is shared with Islington next door, which affects nothing about a booking. Parking is the part that genuinely differs. Zone C, covering Kingsland High Street, Dalston Lane and Ridley Road, is controlled Monday to Saturday between 8.30am and 6.30pm and not at all on a Sunday. Hackney Central runs to 11pm. North Shoreditch, which is the Hoxton end, runs to midnight. An evening job in Hoxton is therefore straightforward while the same job on our own street is a different arrangement, and the zone is checked against the address rather than assumed. Out on the estates control largely falls away and distance takes over instead, since a hose reaches as far as it reaches and no further.
Filters, school streets and a market
Hackney runs more than 140 traffic filters and around 50 school streets, all camera enforced. In practice the shortest way to your door is regularly not a legal one, and term-time closures shut roads twice a day at drop-off and pick-up. Everything is planned around both. A driver ringing from one turning away to ask which end of the road to approach from is dealing with the filters, not with a difficult sat-nav. Ridley Road is the third layer: it trades six days a week and the traders load from first light, which puts the streets behind the high street out of use for a vehicle until the afternoon.
The same water everywhere on the round
Thames Water draws this whole patch hard, from the villas in N1 to the flats over the station and out to the marsh end of E5. Kettles fur. Screens cloud upward from the tray. The rainfall heads in the newer blocks scale on the inside where nobody watches it happen. Getting that off wants an acid product and time rather than pressure, and those waiting minutes are inside every quote from the first phone call. It has never appeared as a line on an invoice and it never will.

Is there an Underground station in Dalston?
No, and it surprises people. It is Overground only: Dalston Junction on the Windrush line and Dalston Kingsland on the Mildmay line, plus the buses along Kingsland High Street and Balls Pond Road. Cleaners without a van travel in that way.
